Short Courses
The Sri Lanka Inventors Commission has implemented a program aimed at nourishing Sri Lankan inventors with knowledge and providing them with the necessary capabilities to successfully advance their inventions, thereby achieving “Capacity Development”.
Under this program, the Commission has arranged to offer more than 26 short-term courses to inventors through institutions such as the “Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI)”, “The Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL)”, “The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CASL)”, “Industrial Development Board (IDB)”, “Industrial Technology Institute (ITI)”, and the “Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies (ACCIMT)” to obtain the necessary external knowledge.
The Commission will pay a course fee of up to a maximum of Rs. 20,000/- for inventors who qualify for the short-term courses facilitated by the Commission.

ශ්රී ලාංකීය නව නිපැයුම්කරුවන් දැනුමින් පෝෂණය කර සිය නව නිපැයුම් සාර්ථක ලෙස ඉදිරියට ගෙන යාම සඳහා අවශ්ය ශක්යතාවයන් නව නිපැයුම්කරුවන් වෙත ලබා දී ඔවුන්ගේ “ධාරිතා සංවර්ධනය” අපේක්ෂා කරගනිමින් ශ්රී ලංකා නව නිපැයුම්කරුවන්ගේ කොමිසම විසින් වැඩසටහනක් ක්රියාත්මක කර ඇත.
මෙම වැඩසටහන යටතේ නව නිපැයුම්කරුවන් වෙත අවශ්ය බාහිර දැනුම ලබාගැනීම සඳහා “ශ්රී ලංකා ප්රමිති ආයතනය (SLSI)”, “ශ්රී ලංකා විවෘත විශ්ව විද්යාලය (OUSL)”, “ශ්රී ලංකා වරලත් ගණකාධිකරණ ආයතනය (CASL)”, “කාර්මික සංවර්ධන මණ්ඩලය (IDB)”, “කාර්මික තාක්ෂණ ආයතනය (ITI) සහ “නවීන තාක්ෂණය පිලිබඳ ආතර් සී. ක්ලාක් ආයතනය (ACCIMT)” ආදී ආයතන හරහා කෙටි කාලීන පාඨමාලා 26ට අධික සංඛ්යාවක් නව නිපැයුම්කරුවන් වෙත ලබාදීමට කොමිසම මඟින් කටයුතු සූදානම් කර ඇත.
කොමිසම මඟින් පහසුකම් ලබා දෙනු ලබන කෙටි කාලීන පාඨමාලා සඳහා සුදුසු කම් ලබන නව නිපැයුම්කරුවන් හට උපරිමය රුපියල් 20,000/- ක් දක්වා පාඨමාලා ගාස්තුවක් කොමිසම විසින් ගෙවීම් කරනු ලබයි.

Southern InnovaBiz – Financial & Technical Support for Inventors in the Southern Province
The Sri Lanka Inventors Commission (SLIC), in collaboration with the Southern Provincial Industrial Development Authority, Southern Provincial Ministry of Industries, University of Ruhuna, Southern Provincial Department of Education, and the Southern Provincial Department of Agriculture, has launched “Southern InnovaBiz” – a special initiative to strengthen the innovation ecosystem in the Southern Province.
This program provides financial assistance of up to Rs. 500,000 (subject to conditions) and technical support for inventors to develop prototypes of their innovations with commercialization potential.
Key Objectives
✔ Empowering inventors by providing financial and technical support for prototype development.
✔ Identifying inventions, securing intellectual property rights, and directing them towards commercialization.
✔ Uplifting innovation within the Southern Province to contribute to national production and income.
✔ Ensuring effective and integrated project implementation through institutional collaboration.
Application Process
1️⃣ Submit the completed application.
2️⃣ Verification of required information (e.g., patent details).
3️⃣ Selection process.
4️⃣ Signing of agreement with the Southern Provincial Industrial Development Authority.
5️⃣ Release of funds according to the grant agreement.
6️⃣ Final evaluation by the six partner institutions.
Important Instructions for Applicants
- Provide accurate and clear information in the application.
- Indicate the name(s) of inventor(s)/partners as per National Identity Card.
- Ensure the applicant(s) signature(s) are included.
- Mention the relevant patent number/patent application number and attach the certificate if already granted.
- Submit the project plan (in the given format) and a one-page description explaining how the project benefits align with the program objectives.
