A Drop from the History
The Sri Lanka Inventors Commission (SLIC) is a Statutory Body which was came in to operation on 1st August in 1987 by virtue of the powers vested in the Sri Lanka Inventors Incentives Act No 53 of 1979. As per the Act, the SLIC shall consist of a Commissioner and two Assistant Commissioners appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers on the recommendation of the Minister of the line ministry.
The Sri Lanka Inventors Commission today
Currently the SLIC is functioning under the purview of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Research. Prof. Rangika Halwatura, Professor at University of Moratuwa has been serving as the Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission. The two Assistant Commissioners are Prof. M. Dayal P. De Costa and Mr. Yasas Chandra de Silva.
